If you missed last night’s discussion, hosted by Miko Peled on the campaign to topple Jeremy Corbyn, here is a recording of the full programme. I was on the panel alongside Asa Winstanley and Tony Greenstein.

Many are calling for a new party. Until now, my instinct has been to collect our strength first. But Keir Starmer’s outright assault on the Left has shifted the landscape. It’s time to accelerate efforts to create a genuinely anti-imperialist, socialist party.
A future socialist party shouldn’t be purely committed to electoral politics. That’s a well-trodden and misguided path. We need to build activism outside of Parliament. Winning seats in a two-party system may be difficult, but we can still transform the political landscape.
We’ll need to build alliances with other socialist parties and groups, to avoid further fragmentation and division. That means being strategic and disciplined. Our mission must be to unite the working class behind tangible demands, and to achieve those in practice.
We should learn lessons from Labour’s demise. The Party is now a nursing home for corporate lobbyists and careerist hacks. It exists to prevent change. We must win the change that people need.
