Members of The Royal Family have today been attending events to mark #AnzacDay.

#AnzacDay honours the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.

On behalf of Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales attended a Dawn Service this morning to mark the centenary of the Battle of Villers-Bretonneux in France. Around 2,400 Australians were killed in the Battle of Villers-Bretonneux, which took place 100 years ago today during the World War I.

Meanwhile in London, The Duke of Cambridge, Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle joined today’s Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving to mark #ANZACDay.

When members of Jewish communities express genuine anxieties, we must recognise them

I am grateful to the Board of Deputies, the Jewish Leadership Council and the Community Security Trust for a positive and constructive meeting about tackling antisemitism.

I am absolutely committed to rooting out antisemitism from our party and our society.

When members of Jewish communities express genuine anxieties, we must recognise them as we would those of any other community. Their concerns are not “smears”. Jews belong in the Labour Party and we are utterly committed to making it a safe and welcoming place for them.

I have charged our new General Secretary Jennie Formby with improving our disciplinary procedures as her top priority to ensure all complaints are dealt with swiftly and fairly. We are grateful for the input from Jewish community groups, who we will continue to listen to carefully.

We will lay out the further steps we are taking in the coming weeks. We will continue to engage and work with Jewish community organisations to deal with this issue. Our party will not fail our Jewish brothers and sisters.

Jeremy Corbyn. I was proud to be at the unveiling of Millicent Fawcett’s statue.

But still 90% of statues in London are of men.

We must have a statue to recognise Mary Wollstonecraft’s immense contribution in the fight for gender equality.

Scope of the inquiry

In the last Parliament the Home Affairs Committee conducted a wide-ranging inquiry into ‘Hate crime and its violent consequences’. The inquiry was cut short by the June General Election but the Committee was able to publish a report in May 2017 on Abuse, hate and extremism online, which focused on the role of social media companies in addressing hate crime and illegal content on their platforms.

The new Committee in the current Parliament has resumed the hate crime inquiry.
